FAQs

How do you water the plant properly?

Water the plant thoroughly when its top few inches are dry. Do not withhold water for long periods. Keep the humidity level at 60-80%. However, do not allow water to accumulate in the roots as this could cause the plant to lose its shape, or get bacterial or fungal infections.

What soil type can I use?

Avoid dense media or clay-like soil as it may cause root-rot. Use light, well-draining medium such as sphagnum or peat moss-based soil. Or peat-vermiculite and peat-perlite. It is okay to add in some pine bark fines but avoid excessive amount as it can cause toxicity.

When and how should I repot?

If your plant is growing much slower than usual, not growing at all, or drying out quicker than usual, it is time to repot it. Pick a container that is only a few inches larger than the previous one. This will minimize root-bound.

Why are the leaves turning yellow and falling off?

The most common causes are a nutrient deficiency and overwatering.
