Step-by-step guide

1: Mark the line so that you can see where you will be cutting.

2: Make the cut.

The bottles are cut:

3: Mark the points where you will be drilling. These are the points where the stainless steel rope will thread through.

4: Drill the holes:

5: Drill drainage holes about an inch from the bottom of the "pot" to hold some water but yet drain any excess, so that the roots of the plants will not rot.

6: Insert the stainless steel rope and prepare for crimping.

7: Crimping tool in action

Crimping done!

8. The completed hanging "pot".

Bonus tip:

Fill the bottom 1 inch with leca. This allows water to be stored for the roots to tap on the water continuously.

The tiny holes at the 1-inch mark allows excess water to drain.

Use a suitable potting medium for the plant to fill up the rest of the pot.

Reproduced with permission.
