Cypress Vine (茑萝)
Twining annual vine with ovate or oblong leaves. The flowers are crimson-red and tubular with 5-pointed star-shaped petals that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The fruits are explosive capsules, usually containing 4 seeds. The stems are thin and fragile, and the plant needs vertical support to climb and spread out properly. The plant is rought-tolerant but blooms best when well-watered.
